Why AI Literacy Matters for Children Now

AI is already shaping the world your child is growing into. The jobs that will exist in ten years look different from the ones that exist today. The businesses, the creative industries, the sciences: all of them are being reshaped by artificial intelligence. The question is not whether your child will encounter AI. They already do. The question is whether they will understand it, or simply be used by it.

Teach Me AI gives children a practical, age-appropriate understanding of how AI works, where it comes from, and how to use it as a tool rather than as a crutch. We teach them to think critically about AI outputs, to build simple AI tools themselves, and to understand the ethical questions that come with this technology. These are not just technical skills. They are life skills for the generation growing up right now.

The Programme: Eight Weeks, Lasting Skills

Each Teach Me AI course runs over eight weeks. Sessions are structured, practical, and designed for the specific age group. Children do not just watch and listen: they build things, experiment, make mistakes, and learn. Every session ends with something they can show a parent or a friend and say, "I made that."

Courses are available in Sheffield for in-person sessions, and online for families across the UK. Group sizes are kept small to ensure each child gets genuine attention and guidance throughout the programme.

The course has been tested with children from age 8 upward, and the curriculum has been refined through real sessions. The content works. Children leave understanding things that most adults do not.

The Three Levels

Age-appropriate learning, real-world skills

Each level is built for a specific age group. Children join the level that matches where they are, not where we assume they should be.

Ages 9 to 11

Explorer

Curiosity first

Children at this level discover what AI is through play, storytelling, and hands-on activities. They learn that AI is not magic: it is a tool built by people with patterns and data. They build their first simple AI-powered projects and start asking the questions that matter.

  • What is AI and how does it learn?
  • Pattern recognition and simple models
  • Building with AI tools (no coding required)
  • Is AI fair? Early ethics conversations

Ages 11 to 14

Creator

From user to maker

Creators move from understanding AI to building with it. They use real AI tools to create projects that matter to them: art, music, stories, games, and useful applications. They learn to prompt effectively, evaluate AI outputs critically, and understand the difference between a good AI tool and a misleading one.

  • Prompting AI to get real results
  • Building AI-powered creative projects
  • Evaluating AI output critically
  • Data, bias, and responsible AI use

Ages 14 to 16

Builder

Ready to lead

Builders are ready for the next step. They learn to build AI-powered applications, automate real tasks, and think like the architects behind the systems they use every day. This level produces young people who can walk into any industry and contribute immediately to how AI is used and built.

  • Building real AI-powered applications
  • Automation and workflow design
  • AI for business and entrepreneurship
  • Ethics, governance, and the future of AI

About the Instructor

Built by someone who believes in this

Teach Me AI was built by Daniel Kiing, an AI Business Architect based in Sheffield. Daniel builds AI systems for businesses during the week, and teaches AI literacy because he believes the next generation deserves to understand the technology that will define their world. Not as passive users. As informed, capable participants.

The curriculum has been tested with real children, refined through feedback, and built to produce genuine understanding rather than surface-level familiarity. Sheffield children can join in-person sessions. Families across the UK can join online, with the same quality of instruction and the same commitment to safety.
